I really liked the location, and the property is well maintained. Even during a tropical storm, the landscaping and surrounding area had no problems. The pool, BBQ area, and facilities were extremely clean, kudos to the crew. I do wish there were another elevator.

We stayed in a two-bedroom, two-bath oceanfront room at Windsor Court North and had a great family vacation. The beach access inside Palmetto Dunes is private, and the location is great. There are more crowds if you walk down the beach toward the nearby resorts or public access points. The room was clean, and the view was amazing. The general store on the circle is pricey, but convenient. Bike trails are well maintained, and there’s a rental shop just inside the Palmetto Dunes gate. Stack's and Hilton Head Diner are nearby. The pool area has a shallow kids’ pool, a hot tub, lots of deck space, and shade. We rented an umbrella and chairs from the beach lifeguard at a reasonable price, cheaper for the week. The fire pit wouldn’t work, but the grills were nice. I’d recommend Windsor and would consider staying here again.

The ocean view we paid for was partly obscured by fogged glass in the living room’s lower windows, where the seals were clearly broken. The whole unit needs a thorough cleaning and updating. There are better units in this same complex, so check those before booking 4504 Windsor Court North. We stayed there at the end of last summer, and it was disappointing. Long black hairs were all over the carpet, which needed a deep clean. The mattress pad had dried human fluids on it, so I was glad I brought my own sheets, and we had to wash the pad. The mattress should have been replaced a long time ago. We flipped it over so we could sleep without sinking into it. The dishwasher had many rusty or missing tines, making full loads difficult, and it wasn’t secured beyond the water supply, so it tipped outward when opened.

The balcony door was dirty when we arrived and is so hard to move that sometimes two of us had to open it. The balcony table is rusted through, with flakes of rust all over the floor. Inside 4504, the place feels dirty and run down, with old, dirty carpet and furniture. The kitchen was poorly supplied: no scissors or potholders, just one dish towel and one dish rag, and not enough pots, pans, or dishes. We used bath towels as potholders and dish towels, and carried food to the grill on a rusty baking sheet. When I tried to sweep, there was no dustpan, so I made one from cardboard. The apartment isn’t equipped to live in. One of the two fluorescent master-bath lights works; the other flickers on and off. The walls have peeling paint and scuff marks. We won’t be back.
