Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Chattanooga-Hixson by IHG

The breakfast had a big variety and was great, and the staff were exceptional. The hotel is also close to good restaurants and shops, which is really convenient. Great place to stay, and I’m looking forward to coming back.

I usually pick IHG when I travel for work, but this location didn’t impress me. The linens seemed clean, though the walls were a bit dirty, the window shade wouldn’t close all the way, and the tub drained terribly. Service was good, but the price felt high for the condition. I didn’t feel as safe or comfortable with the hygiene as I usually do at IHG.

We came to the area for a funeral, and the whole staff was kind. The woman working in the breakfast area noticed my spouse, who has dementia, wandering off and alerted me. Breakfast was hot and good, and the area was clean. Housekeeping brought clean towels each day, while the front desk clerks were friendly and helpful. We also left a bag of laundry behind when leaving our room, and they called as soon as they found it. I’d stay here again if I’m in the area.

There was a water leak in our second-floor room, and it had left mold on the ceiling and wall. They painted over it instead of replacing the drywall, and did a poor job. My son has severe allergies and asthma, so that condition could be dangerous for someone like him. We took plenty of photos. Room 219. At 11 p.m., someone was banging on our door, waking me and frightening my three young children. The breakfast had no fruit at all, fresh or packaged, and the kids wouldn’t eat the premade omelettes with peppers and onions. The coffee was delicious, and I liked that the milk came in packages. When we accidentally spilled half a cup, a worker hurried over with a towel to help. We said it was our fault and we’d clean it, but she insisted and didn’t make us feel bad. As a Holiday Inn Express member, I don’t think the hotel’s condition meets IHG expectations.
