Motel 6 Holbrook, AZ

The only things going for this place were its proximity to the 40 and the fact that it allows pets. Opening the door brought a foul, gag-inducing smell, and the room was cold too. I should've connected the reviews about broken AC to the heat not working. The flooring was cracked and lifting, a trip hazard, and the toilet bowl was badly stained. A roach was crawling on the washcloth when I went to use the bathroom. The listing called it a newly renovated location, which was completely inaccurate. I would never stay again or recommend it, even to a desperate traveler.

The shower barely had room to stand, let alone shave your legs. It didn't work for my husband, who's 6'3", or me at 5'6". We were upstairs this time. I liked the strong water pressure and the shower massager worked, though I had to turn the water all the way to hot and it still didn't seem hot enough. The AC worked well, but it was an older, basic unit with cool, heat, and fan speeds, and no temperature setting. The heater in the room we stayed in last night was on but never warmed up the room. The bed was against the wall and too soft for me, though my husband liked it. I felt like I was sinking and would rather have a firmer mattress. Still worth another stay.

Don't stay here. It's a dump, with bad smells in both the bathroom and bed. You'd be better off sleeping outside near the homeless people around the car park. I booked two rooms on the ground floor months ago, but got two upstairs rooms instead. The girl at the desk didn't seem very smart. She said I couldn't have rooms on the bottom floor, then asked how my night was going.

A good stopover for the price, and we had no problems during our stay. The clerk was really friendly and put us in a front room, since the other guest seemed a bit shady.
