A month before my stay, Tulyp Hotel charged the full amount to my card without notice or authorization, even though the reservation was supposed to be held on the card rather than prepaid. The stay is still a month away. I also learned the property is apparently in the middle of major, noisy construction, something they never disclosed when I booked. When I called for an explanation, a condescending, unprofessional front desk employee blamed me for “not showing up” even though the reservation is weeks away. Between the charge, the undisclosed work, and the dismissive service, this has been unacceptable. I can’t recommend Tulyp Hotel. There are better places that treat guests with respect.

From the moment we came in, the attentive, warm staff made us feel at home. The lobby was inviting and sleek, with distinctive décor and windows stretching from floor to ceiling that let in lots of natural light. What a phenomenal stay!

The hotel itself is nice, but my experience with the service was disappointing. I’m a Diamond member and tried to use my $15 credit at the hotel bar during a one-night stay. The bartender refused to serve me, despite my valid ID, saying he wasn’t familiar enough with California IDs. He announced loudly to the whole bar that he wouldn’t accept it, and seemed to enjoy doing so. I was taken aback and confused by what felt like a power trip. My experiences with staff at other Hiltons have been positive, so this left me disappointed in Hilton. Staff here need some kind of intervention. If you can’t recognize IDs from around the country, you shouldn’t work at a hotel that welcomes people from all over.

I really like the location and the service, but the room was the most inconvenient I’ve run into. The flooring in the room was odd, and although tile in the bathroom makes sense, the floors felt freezing in the cold weather. Bring fuzzy socks or slippers. Also, the bathroom faucet is too short for the sink, which made washing my face a nightmare.
