Ft Lauderdale Hollywood Airport Hotel

We arrived very late because of the flight, and Vinny, whom I call "cousin," was polite, kind, and informative. He really helped my husband and me feel at home. I hated paying that much for just four hours of sleep, but we badly needed to lie down and take some weight off our shoulders. The room was clean and spacious, the breakfast had good choices, and the location is good.

We had a reservation and BW reward status, but waited more than an hour after official check-in for a room assignment with a microwave. At BW Plus, microwaves are listed as an amenity, not an extra, so every room should have one. Many people got rooms before us, and each time my spouse asked, we were told ours was still being cleaned. The room turned out to be small, with mildew on the lampshades, rust in several places, heavy humidity, and a dank smell. The modern shower controls were confusing, and the sliding glass door wouldn't stay shut, so water ended up on the floor outside. The sheets and cover were thin, and the fitted sheet came off the mattress every day. There weren't enough outlets for phones and other devices. The fridge was missing the inside door bar, making it useless for storing drinks. The pool was under construction, just a gray hole in the decking outside the third floor, so it should be removed as a searchable amenity. There was a lot of daytime banging and construction noise. Our key cards needed renewal nearly every day, and we got locked out several times. Breakfast was extremely crowded, with people filling every table and spilling into the lobby. Food ran low; all we saw replenished were trays of bread. The attendant was trying to keep up but couldn't. We ate in the breakfast area one day and elsewhere on the other days. Luckily, Denny's and McDonald's are within walking distance. Traffic from the nearby major highway was so loud that even a noise machine and earplugs couldn't mask it. This hotel seems geared toward people passing through from the airport or cruise terminals, with transportation options and short stays. It might be adequate for that use, but I wouldn't recommend it as a base for a longer visit. To me, it doesn't meet Best Western standards, even at the basic level, let alone as a Plus. I'd look at other BW hotels in the area for a potentially better experience.

We were worn out after a red-eye from Phoenix, but Vinny at the front desk arranged an early check-in. The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, and there were several breakfast options to choose from. We'd stay here again.

The room looked modern and was very clean. It didn't come with a microwave, but after I called downstairs they eventually brought one up. Aside from that, everything was fantastic. Check-in was quick and friendly, and the airport shuttle was good. I skipped breakfast, so I can't comment on it. I'd definitely stay again. Denny's next door is very convenient, open 24 hours, and I recommend it.
