Ocean's Sound Hotel

The room was cold because there was a big gap between the built-in AC unit and the window, letting wind blow straight inside. There was no heat. Staff told us to walk a few blocks to get a space heater, but the tiny heater barely made a difference. The kitchenette also had no utensils, and when we called, we were told to walk those same three blocks to the front desk for a box of supplies. We had booked The Starfish, in a different complex run by the company, but were placed here without a choice in a much inferior room. Check-in was an hour later than the posted time, then there was a line and we waited almost another hour to get checked in. They also charged a resort fee, although our booking said all extra taxes and fees were included. Other guests ahead of us were upset about it too. This is part of the Hollywood Beach Hotels company, which runs properties across several blocks of Hollywood Beach. If you’re considering HB, I’d look into whether a place is connected to that company before booking. The staff were mostly rude, though it seemed to me like a bigger company problem: they appear badly understaffed and likely worn down by constant complaints about the company’s practices.

I’d seen plenty of good and bad things written about oceans sounds hotel, so I was glad I went last week. I stayed five days and got home Tuesday. It’s really convenient for the broadwalk, ocean, beach, bars, food, coffee shop, river, and souvenir stores. I’ll come back to this location. Thanks for reading!

The staff were an absolute joke. There was blood on the sheets when I checked in, and the bathroom looked neglected, with peeling paint in the shower. Water sat in the shower because it wouldn’t drain, and the blow dryer didn’t work. They advertise free parking, but charged $18 a night. I wouldn’t let my dead dog stay here. Stay far away, I can’t recommend it to anyone.

Getting hold of the hotel directly was pretty much impossible. When I called to check that the room was on the first floor because my mom has accessibility issues, the guy was rude and had a real chip on his shoulder. A couple of days after I booked, I had to cancel well before the stay because my mom had a medical condition. They said the booking was nonrefundable, canceled the room, and then I got confirmation that they rented it out. It feels like they collected twice. Big scam hotel. The customer service is atrocious. Stay away.
