Holualoa Inn

The cottage was cozy, and that lanai felt like heaven. For the first time on our Hawaii trip, we slowed down enough to really relax. The main inn was lovely and welcoming, too. We stayed at three great places on the island, but Holualoa Inn was our favorite, and now one of our favorite stays ever. From arrival, we felt at home. Everyone on staff we spoke with was kind, helpful, and friendly, and went out of their way to make the visit special. Kat was especially gracious and generous, and made our last day on the island much less stressful. We’d happily come back and have no hesitation recommending it to friends and family.

The staff were really friendly and helpful, and breakfast was great, with plenty grown right on the estate: coffee, guava, star apple, avocado, bananas, macadamia nuts, honey from their own bee hives, and more. This is a cool B&B in Holualoa, set on a lush hillside Hawaiian estate with great views. A few small things could be better. The WiFi could cover the guest rooms more reliably, some of the energy efficient lighting would feel nicer with warmer, still energy efficient LEDs, and more modern door locks would be welcome.

The inn sits tucked away in Holualoa, with cute shops along the street above it. Check out White Nene coffee stand for a cardamom roll and iced coffee. Breakfast is great, and the coffee is the best I’ve ever had. The rooms are incredible, and the grounds and inn are IMMACULATE, full of soul and clearly cared for by a large staff who know and care about their work. It’s spendier than the big chains, but absolutely worth it. This place is spectacular, and I highly recommend staying at least a night if you can while visiting the Big Island. It’s not a place for kids, since sound really carries in the space. They deliberately keep a serene atmosphere so guests have the best chance of a tranquil stay.

Having the entire inn to ourselves for three nights made the weekend feel intimate and relaxed, and sharing it with our families made everything especially meaningful. We booked a wedding package that let us rent the whole property. Holualoa Inn is one of the most beautiful places we’ve stayed. The property is stunning, with breathtaking views and a peaceful, almost magical setting. Everything was thoughtfully maintained, and we couldn’t have imagined a more perfect place for our wedding weekend.
