Maui Sands #5g 2 Bedroom Condo by RedAwning

The condo was clean and stocked as advertised. We saw just one or two bugs during our stay. The air unit was in the living room, so the bedroom got a little warm, but having a movable standing fan helped with the airflow. A few things were frustrating. The power went out for three hours one day, and nobody was in the office to explain what to do. An alarm kept going off until the electricity came back. Our assigned parking spot was on the other side of the condo, even though there were open spaces near our unit. The space was also unusually short because the building juts out, and the spots are narrow. The association asks for your license plate, make, and model on arrival, but nobody in the office was around to give us a pen for the form. We removed the parking permit while out for the day because it listed our unit, departure date, and room phone number, which seemed like too much private information to leave visible and told people where we weren’t. We forgot to put it back, and got a warning threatening a $50 fine if it happened again, despite the association already having our details and knowing which car was ours. There isn’t proper beachfront access either, just stairs down into a rocky cove.

Our one-bedroom was roomy, and the place has lots of character despite being older. The pool and grounds were nice. Parking was a hassle, so rent a small car if you want it to fit.

What a spot. Turtle Haven faces the ocean and is just steps from the water. We’ve watched whales from the lanai, and today we waded in the surf and saw our first green turtle. Awesome!

It’s a convenient, pleasant location, with food and groceries within walking distance, beach access, and a relaxing pool. I’d stay here again. My only complaint is that the parking spaces are small, and there aren’t extra spaces for visitors.
