We stay here because we have a timeshare, and the location is perfect. The rooms feel like small apartments. I’m not sure whether they rent to people without timeshares. There are no luxury amenities, and the pool has been unusable for four years, but the place is hard to beat for cleanliness and location.

There are lots of shops nearby, though they’re very expensive. The room itself was excellent and clean, with no mildew in the bathroom, and the view was very good. Food was costly and not very good. After eating at P.F. Chang I had to go straight to the bathroom, and walking in the heat made things worse. I’d planned to get a massage and use their facility, but the manager took one look at me and said their bathroom was out of order. Hard Rock came to my rescue, and the staff there were very friendly.

There’s a lot within easy reach: restaurants, drug stores, grocery stores, pubs, and quick access to the beaches. Staff are extremely helpful, offer recommendations, and have discounted adventure packages. Parking costs $60 a day. You can rent a car across the street for about the same price, before taxes and fees, and return it the same day. Nearby Target has cheaper groceries than the ABC stores. The beds were good quality, though the mattress was a little soft. Drawers are only four inches deep, so storage is limited. The balcony is tight, but two or three people can stand out there. With the doors closed, noise levels are good, and you can’t really hear the elevators or other tenants. The room was in good shape overall, though it had a musty smell. We expected that so close to the shoreline and bought scents. Each day the facility offered a word of the day and activities for guests. Plenty of restaurants are nearby, but many are overpriced chains you can find back home. Go a block over for more local food. There isn’t much of a view from the building, so walk to the beach for sunset.

My daughter and I had a wonderful stay in a room that was just the right size for us. It’s close to everything, including the beach, restaurants, and shops. Parking was the only problem. The lot didn’t have much room for owners, and at $60 a night for a week we had to find parking elsewhere on a few nights. Maybe they could offer a better discount or a parking garage for resort guests, especially since there’s also a resort fee every night. Otherwise, we had a wonderful stay.

The resort and rooms were fabulous, with plenty of space, comfy beds, and everything we needed. Restaurants and shops are within walking distance. I’m not a Waikiki fan, though. I don’t need big-city life with my tropical island, and I’ve never smelled so much urine outside of Nashville. The pool was closed, which was disappointing, like it was for everyone else. At first I was glad we had a street view instead of a pool view, since that mostly looks onto the parking garage. But now there’s a concert playing in my room, and people have been screaming in the streets until midnight every night. We’re on the second floor, so maybe it’s quieter higher up. If you’re here to party, ask for a second-floor street view. If you’re here to relax, maybe skip Waikiki.
