The deck is a cute spot to watch the Friday night fireworks over the city. This was the cutest, most comfortable place I’ve ever stayed, and I’ve traveled around the world. It’s peaceful, with a romantic, adorable house and beds so soft and cozy, with sheets like clouds. The host is so nice and accommodating, and parking is available. I wish I could live here. I can’t figure out why it doesn’t have a five-star rating. Ignore the idiots online. Trust me, book it and thank me later.

Filthy and unacceptable. The first room had a roof leak, no soap or trash can, and feces and urine on the toilet seat. The maid cleaned the toilet, then the host moved us to another ‘Davies’ room while we went to dinner and a show. When we got back and checked more closely, that toilet was just as dirty. The air conditioning didn’t work, there seemed to be bugs or signs of bugs in the bed, the sheets had holes, and there was no bathroom fan. The bedspread had what looked like pet or human hair on it. We packed up and left. I won’t return and can’t recommend it.

It’s a beautiful historic B&B, and the place is clearly family run. The family took over in 2023 and are doing a great job keeping it going. The location is lovely and quiet, and the rooms have air conditioning. Everything feels very homey. Breakfast is nice, all homemade, with eggs, a protein such as ham, bacon, or sausage, a starch like toast, bread, or rice, plus fruit and vegetables. Parking is really tight, so get a smaller rental car.

The breakfast was just pancakes and bacon, and the plates had clearly been used for years. Somehow that made it feel more like home. I showed up after the breakfast hours had changed without realizing it, but the new owner still made me a plate. She's a wonderful woman taking on a place the previous owners had left in ruins. My visit was a year ago, and I still remember it fondly. The place isn't perfect, but the service was amazing and the room was huge. Even if you're not used to the heat, running a fan and leaving the windows open was enough to cool the room down.

Don't stay here. You can get much better value elsewhere. I was also concerned the place could be a fire hazard. The claimed renovations didn't seem to be happening: I saw no work underway, and the pool was covered with an old tarp holding foul water and leaves that looked like they'd been there for a while. It seems to me the new owners are running the place down and trying to get as much money as they can while they can. The rooms were shabby and grimy, and the public areas were dirty. Service was practically nonexistent. Breakfast was the worst I've had at a hotel, with stained, old cups and plates. The promised 24/7 tea and coffee weren't available: there was none in the rooms, and the machines in public areas didn't work, with no tea bags or other supplies.
