Midway Realty at Waikiki Sunset 16th Floor

We came on vacation to rest, but I haven't slept in eight days. The condo stayed between 75 and 78 degrees every day and night, with no air conditioning. The building maintenance staff said it worked, while the property management company's maintenance supervisor disagreed. When we reported 78 degrees in the room, they said that was the temperature of their main unit, which isn't how thermostats work. Someone also entered our unit without permission. When I raised the issue, they claimed all units were the same, but our friends are staying here too and their room is fine. The free parking was tempting, and the condo is only 2 ½ blocks from the beach and restaurants, but those are the only positives for us. This was our first and last VRBO trip. Stay away from this property.

The view was nice at times, but I never felt clean in this extremely old suite. Everything seemed worn out and kind of gross to sit or lie on. Replacing the furniture, curtains, and carpet would be a good first step toward making the units tolerable.

The attendant's behavior made a routine garage exit stressful and disrespectful. This wasn't the first time either. Two days earlier, the same attendant had been rude and dismissive. I let it go then, thinking she might have been having a bad day, but the same hostility happened again. On 02/05/26, my parking ticket was valid until 8:21 AM, and I reached the exit at about 8:19, within the paid time. The QR scanner wasn't working, so I couldn't exit through the normal process. The attendant was on a personal call and appeared to be making her own reservations while guests waited. She didn't acknowledge us until after the call, even though my car was at the gate and the equipment issue was time-sensitive. Then she raised her voice, falsely said we weren't following the rules, and told us to “park elsewhere” because we were “making her life harder.” We were following the rules and only needed help with broken equipment. No guest should be ignored, blamed for a malfunction, and treated with hostility for trying to leave with a valid ticket. If this is the service guests can expect at the parking exit, it raises serious questions about the hotel's wider standards.

The room had good views and plenty of space, with a separate bedroom and a fairly well-stocked kitchenette. We barely noticed any noise. The hotel was close to everything we wanted to reach, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Check-in was easy.
