We were in and out around the area, so the hotel worked well as a base. It’s dated, including an elevator that felt a little unsettling, but the rooms were clean and cared for. Tour booking in the lobby took ages with just one person handling it, so we booked most things across the street instead. We didn’t try the pool. I wasn’t expecting anything amazing, but it turned out pretty good, and I’d stay again.

Ten years have passed, and I was still hoping to stay at the Miramar again on a trip to Hawaii. I spent three nights here on my high school field trip, and those memories have stayed with me. It makes me sad that the hotel is closing.

This was a convenient place to stay at a reasonable price, so it’s a shame it closed at the end of January 2014. I heard the International Market Place, including this spot, was expected to reopen in the latter half of 2016.
