Regency on Beachwalk Waikiki by OUTRIGGER

Room 36 worked perfectly for our family of five. We had two rooms, the beds were soooo comfortable, and even the sofa bed was great. The kitchen had everything we needed, with pots, pans, cups, plates, a toaster, jug, dishwasher, and large fridge. The place was clean, and staff were lovely and kind. Zach at Reception was especially helpful. There’s a hot and cold water fountain downstairs, and you can borrow beach towels from reception. Using the Outrigger pool down the road was so awesome. The location was amazing in my opinion, around a 10-minute walk to food trucks, and the Hilton lagoon isn’t far. There’s a Target around the corner and a long drugs store next door if you need groceries. The downsides were the $460USD cleaning service fee on top of the room rate, and really bad internet/wifi that kept dropping out, so I used my phone internet. Laundry requires a credit or debit card and costs $2.75USD per load for the washer and dryer.

The only good thing was being within walking distance of most things. The place was noisy, with garbage trucks roaring by at 2am every morning. Half the power points didn’t work, the paint was peeling, and the floor was uneven. We were overcharged for what we got, then hit with exorbitant cleaning fees and a non refundable damage fee whether anything was damaged or not. I would NOT stay there again.

The room was a clean, single-bedroom unit with a decent-sized bathroom, kitchenette, and balcony. There was no oven, but it came with a fridge, convection microwave, and a few dishes. Staff were friendly and helpful. There’s no daily room service, so you have to pick up after yourselves. There’s no pool on site, though guests can use the pool at their sister hotels, and parking is paid. My complaint was the air conditioning, or the lack of cool air. There was an AC in the room, but it didn’t cool the space, especially at night. My sons also complained that their room wasn’t cool enough. Several reviews say the same thing, so Outrigger, are you listening? Please install ceiling fans in the bedrooms. Aside from that, it was great.

The large balcony was a real bonus for our family of six, and we moved the kitchen table out there for the week to make more room inside and enjoy the views over meals. We stayed in a two-bedroom condo with a city view, and bought a double air mattress at Walmart on the way from the airport because our adult children needed an extra bed. It fit neatly at the end of a bedroom. The location worked so well for us, with a short walk to the beach and the Outrigger Reef, which we used every day. Staff greeted us with a smile and were always ready to help, and the fresh water on the main level and ABC store right outside were handy perks. I’d happily stay again, and as a travel agent I’d feel comfortable recommending it to clients seeking condo-style accommodation. For a hotel with a more upscale feel, I’d point them to its sister property, Outrigger Reef.
