Sheraton Princess Kaiulani Waikiki Beach

The cultural stories and local artists sharing their work were a real highlight, and there were activities a couple of times a day. The lobby has foosball and pool tables, a library, and a plug-in work area. We also liked the relaxed afternoons and evenings, with live music by the pool, and it felt very kid friendly. Target is on the same block for anything you forgot, at normal prices. The resort is easy to reach and centrally located on Wakiki, across from the beach. Towels and beach chairs are available, though there aren't boogie boards or snorkeling gear like at some other places. Common areas have wide ramps. Our renovated room still had hollow doors, so hallway conversations and people by the room across from us came through clearly. Service was top notch, including housekeeping, who worked around our schedule discreetly and left plenty of toilet paper and bottled water. We had to ask them to stop bringing the water because we had refillable bottles. On-site overnight parking was convenient at $45 a day. A very pleasant stay, and I had a hard time finding much to fault.

The location was the one clear plus for me. At these premium Waikiki prices, I expected a much more comfortable, updated hotel, but the worn furniture and carpets, dated rooms, and poor cleanliness made the stay underwhelming. Noise came through from the street and hallway, and the walls seemed thin, so getting a good night's sleep was harder than it should have been on vacation. Staff weren't rude, but interactions felt hurried and impersonal, as if they were overwhelmed or short staffed. I wouldn't return unless the hotel gets a major renovation.

The location is fantastic, with just about everything to do in Waikiki within walking distance. Still, I won't be back. Why be a Marriott member if you're charged extra fees that are supposed to be included with membership? The rooms need updating, and the pool is small. It's a little pricey too, especially when there are more options around. I definitely won't use this place again as a Marriott member.

We could barely hear the busy street once we were inside our room, and getting to restaurants, buses, and Waikiki beach was easy. The location was one of the most convenient we've had at any hotel. Our king room was much roomier than expected, and the staff were very nice and helpful. As a Gold elite member, I could borrow towels and beach chairs easily, which made our beach visits more fun. We had a lovely stay as a couple, and it exceeded what we expected. Definitely worth it for us, and we'd stay here again next time we visit Hawaii.
