Extended Stay America Suites Houston Galleria Westheimer

My employer has had complaints about Extended Stay Galleria before, and has moved me and other colleagues elsewhere because of ongoing problems here. During my own stay, I saw rodents, which was unsettling and unacceptable from a cleanliness and hygiene standpoint. Staff were unprofessional and didn’t respond to my concerns. There were also repeated instances of unruly, inappropriate behavior in the hotel, making it uncomfortable, especially for business travelers. I’d look elsewhere if you want a professional, comfortable stay. This property doesn’t meet the standards corporate travelers should expect.

The parking lot security guard was excellent, but the hotel looks run down and needs upgrades in the common areas and bathrooms. The breakfast was granola bars, instant oatmeal, and stale muffins, and there’s no ice machine, just two blue plastic trays to make ice yourself. In the room, the tub couldn’t hold water, the phone didn’t work, and the bathroom sink had no stopper, just an open drain. Worst of all, the front desk gave someone else a key, and that person opened our room door while we were inside.

The location is great, but my stay was horrible. My room had mold, a leaking refrigerator, and what looked like burns all over it. The cabinet was broken too. I contacted guest relations several times because the staff refused to handle customers with dignity and respect. It felt like they were trying to create a hostile environment. After I made maintenance requests about all the problems, the manager refused service and asked me to leave because I wanted to be treated respectfully as a paying customer. I have plenty of evidence for a future claim and hope I’ll eventually get my side heard. I wish I could post pictures of the mold, leaking fridge, broken cabinet, and everything else.

For the price, I’d stay again. The room was clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It’s a good location for a budget stay, though the building needs a modern upgrade and there was no breakfast.
