Some of the TVs are dim and locked, so you can't adjust the picture, which makes them hard to watch. The manager, Maria, doesn't seem accommodating to me and gives me uncomfortable vibes. Nothing has been blatantly racist, but as a Black guest I notice patterns in how I'm treated. I asked for a late checkout and got noon, while other guests get 1 or 2 p.m. I've also seen others allowed to check in at 12 or 1 p.m., while I was told 3 p.m. When differences keep happening, it makes you wonder why the treatment varies by who you are. Guest service should be consistent. I never had these issues when Black staff worked the front desk. Ask how many Black employees have been at the desk in the last two years. Exactly. Wait, I just walked in today and saw a new young Black woman training 🤔 UPDATE: Six days after I posted the review below, the company apparently put me on a “do not rent” list. First they wrote a long response trying to explain that the company doesn't show racist undertones 🤷🏿♀️ Of course they say they don't discriminate by race, gender, and so on. Name a company that openly admits to racism or “undertones.” Exactly 🤣 This feels like retaliation.

Being dog friendly and within walking distance of MD Anderson and St. Luke’s were real advantages for me. I had a wonderful stay at Extended Stay America - Houston - Med Ctr - Braeswood Blvd. near NRG in Houston. The team made the place feel welcoming and cared for. GM Sweety and AGM Maria deserve thanks for leading such a professional, guest-focused group. Their kindness and attention to detail stood out. At the front desk, Shumalia, Kennya, Brasia, and Kay were consistently friendly, patient, and helpful, greeting guests with professionalism and positive energy. Carlos and Isiah from maintenance responded quickly, worked hard, and were respectful when I needed help. Erica, Cheryl, Cece, Ashly, and Wendy in housekeeping kept things clean, organized, and welcoming. Their work didn't go unnoticed. It's rare to find so many employees who care about the guest experience. Thanks to everyone for making my stay so positive. Highly recommended.

I chose this Extended Stay America Suites for its price, amenities, and proximity to Methodist Hospital. Every other Extended Stay America Suites I've used had a stocked kitchen with cookware, dishes, silverware, glasses, and a stovetop. This one had an empty kitchen, not even a coffee maker. We had to ask for the maker, coffee, and mugs at the desk, and they rationed the coffee and creamer. The stovetop looked as old as I am, and at 59 I wouldn't have wanted to try using it even if there were pots and pans. A notice at the desk said that guests wanting fresh sheets had to remove them and put them in a bag for staff. It also warned of an extra fee if linens or towels were considered “extra soiled.” I found out this location was privately owned, which I'm sure makes a difference, but when a place uses the Extended Stay America Suites name and marketing, you expect more. I won't stay at this location again.

At night, exterior spotlights shone straight into the room. The photos were taken at 10 p.m., with darkness outside, and the light was from the fixtures, not the sun. There were no blackout curtains, blinds, or other way to block it. The thin, stained, ragged curtains barely covered the window and looked years old. I don't know how anyone is expected to sleep like that. The whole stay felt cheap and neglected. The pillows were paper thin and uncomfortable, and the bathroom had no shampoo, conditioner, or body wash. The “complimentary breakfast” was just packaged muffins, and coffee was gone after 9:30 a.m. The pool area seemed unfinished and poorly maintained, with no chairs or any seating, so it was essentially unusable. The property felt run down, between the lights in the room, missing basics, and worn condition. More like a neglected roadside motel than a comfortable hotel. Definitely not worth the money, and I wouldn't stay again. **wouldn't allow photos**

The front desk woman was super friendly and helpful, but that's about all I can say. The room smelled strongly of mildew when we switched on the AC. Then we found poop on the toilet seat, so at least we knew somebody had used it after all-day driving. She understood and gave us another room, but it already had roaches in the bathroom. One ran toward the bed and we lost sight of it. The others were probably waiting for the mold in the shower creases to be cleaned. The hotel has mold, roaches that seem happy to snuggle with you at night, and breakfast is just oatmeal with nothing on the side. I'd rather be kidnapped and sent to a Russian gulag than stay here.
