The biggest letdown was parking at $50 a night. Bring your own snacks, because the market is pricey: a 20 fl oz Sprite was $7, really. The place is fairly new, though there was construction going on, and it was pretty quiet. Breakfast was hot, with sausage links instead of bacon, and there were healthy options. Front desk staff were okay.

Security was on point: you needed an elevator key to reach the guest rooms. The rooms were very spacious, and I took the pictures as we were checking out. The hotel was new, the staff were great, and I appreciated the complimentary breakfast. I was totally pleased with the experience. This was the best of the three Holiday Inn's I've stayed at. There's supposed to be a corner store opening next door soon.

Housekeeping tried to get into our room without knocking, even though we had the do not disturb sign outside. We were inside when someone tried scanning a key card, so if you stay here, keep your door extra locked. My boyfriend and I were in town for the Astros game. Parking was $30 a day. The pool was cold, but we still hung out there for the great view from the fifth floor. I'd recommend Cherry HTX, a bar about a 10-minute walk from the hotel.

The hotel itself is clean and beautiful, and the location is great, which makes the basics going wrong such a shame. My shower took about 15 minutes to become barely lukewarm and never got properly hot. The sink water wasn't hot either, even for washing my face. The heater only blew cold air. A maintenance person came to check it, but it still blew cold air. I'm checking out tomorrow and can't wait to leave. A hot shower and a room that can be warm, or cool if you want it, are the bare minimum, and this hotel couldn't provide them.
