Holiday Inn Express & Suites Houston - Hobby Airport Area by IHG

We were here for my mother's funeral and had some legal matters to deal with too, so the last thing we needed was a mix-up over the stay. I asked on the third day to add one night, and the clerk said it was confirmed. The booking was supposed to end Sunday, but I'd extended it. My phone was silenced for the funeral that day. When we got back, our things had been removed from the room and put in the lobby. It was late, so we managed to get a room for one night, but at a higher price. I'll leave you to draw your own conclusions. Breakfast was okay. Enjoy your stay. The first room we were given had a hole in the wall, so we asked to switch. That night, a pizza we ordered went to the wrong room. The night clerk said it had probably been given to a needy family staying there, and the pizza place wouldn't refund us. The second room on day two was fine. For what we paid, the stay should have been better.

The room was spacious and, above all, clean, and breakfast was delicious. Stephanie made the stay feel personal from the start: she helped me add another night over the phone after I’d already booked one while traveling from Louisiana. When we arrived, she greeted us warmly, treated us like family, and even gave us candy canes, holiday notes, water, and a snack. I’ve got no complaints. I’d absolutely recommend the hotel and will be back.

Breakfast was good, but the room had a lot going on that bothered me. Traffic noise was really loud, the pillows were paper thin, and the TV remote kept coming apart. The sink barely trickled and the water pressure was very low. I also wish they had bar soap instead of the gel. We walked to a nearby Mexican restaurant, and the area felt run-down and trashy.

My stay itself was comfortable, but being charged a smoking fee afterward overshadowed it. No one smoked in my room, and when I asked housekeeping at checkout to check for a smoke smell, she said clearly that there wasn't one. Manager Mandy still applied the fee anyway. Charging guests without proper verification feels unfair and unprofessional, and it leaves me with serious concerns about the accuracy and integrity of management here. I hope the hotel reconsiders the charge and reviews its policies so this doesn't happen to other guests.
