Island Suites

The jacuzzi suite was the best part of my stay at Hotel Islands in Houston. It was roomy, spotless, and comfortable with a touch of luxury, and after a long day that warm, bubbling water felt wonderful. The staff were welcoming and genuinely attentive from the moment I arrived, and made me feel right at home. I can’t recommend this little getaway enough.

I’m sharing this so people know what happened, though it may have been limited to our room, 207. We checked out the next morning, and later that day I found ants in our clothing bag. I’d also noticed some on the bed, and I have bites on my legs. The ants first showed up under and on my baby’s car seat in the morning. My baby is strictly breastfed, for context. The night before, I’d left some takeout food out, and ants seemed to come from behind the TV stand. I moved the car seat onto the sofa, thinking it would be safer off the floor, but ants got onto it there too. I called the front desk, and a gentleman came up. He said the ants were because I had the car seat in the room, then took the sofa cushion outside and hit it to shake the ants off. I moved the car seat to my car, which did help. He said there couldn’t be an ant problem because pest control comes frequently. I asked to switch rooms, but he didn’t seem to want to do that. The staff were great otherwise, and check-in and checkout went fine.

The room had nice arches, a pretty tub, and a comfortable bed. The rest was disappointing for more than $225 a night. The finish looked cheap, with poor trim and paint and broken mirrors. The room smelled good, but there was a lot of hair and other stuff on the floor. They’d left the door open when we arrived, so bugs got in and kept going after the lights. Service was cringe. A housekeeper looked through our window at 10am while I wasn’t dressed. The desk guy started filling out the review for us, giving himself 5 stars, before I stopped him. He didn’t speak English. The TVs were small and only had the Disney channel. At that rate they shouldn’t be cutting corners.

The room was clean and comfortable, and the property felt private and tucked away. The Property Manager was understanding and very nice. I’d recommend this place if you want adult privacy.
