Motel 6 Houston, TX - Hwy 249 and Fallbrook

I only used the parking lot while locating a utility line, so I didn't stay at the hotel. The outside looked clean. If you're coming from out of town to stay here, the area isn't the best, though it's not really bad either. Keep things out of your car and stay alert if you're out late at night.

I paid OYO for a full week for myself and a guest, but the motel refused to let us stay because my guest couldn't show ID. His wallet had just been stolen and he was trying to replace it. They'd already taken my valid ID, started check-in, and marked me as checked in anyway, so they could keep the payment. The woman at the desk had seemed unfriendly from the start and ignored me when I asked how she was doing. When I asked OYO for a refund because I was denied the stay, they told me to take it up with the motel and wouldn't help. The motel denied responsibility too. Both sides blamed each other while holding on to my money. I was charged for a stay I couldn't use, with no empathy, help, or accountability. This feels like scam behavior, plain and simple. If you value your money, stay far away from OYO and this property. You could be denied a room, marked checked in, then left without a refund or support.

In the middle of an emergency at night, my daughter, my 7-year-old, and my 2-month-old were turned away, and they refused to refund my money. The people here are rude and seem to want to keep your payment when they won't let you check in. You never know what someone is going through. I hope you never have an emergency, but if you do, go somewhere else.

We picked this place for a Houston wedding because it was near the venue, and we usually like Motel 6 for the price, service at other locations, clean rooms, and pet-friendly policy. This was easily the worst Motel 6 we've stayed in. There were signs at the front door and check-in saying no pets were allowed except service animals, which nearly stopped us from checking in. There isn't an elevator, only stairs to the second floor. That didn't bother us, but people should know. The grass was left uncut, so there were few places for our small dogs to go where I could keep an eye on them. Our hallway smelled awful, like wet dog, rotten food, and stagnant water. The bedding was stained and had holes that looked like cigarette burns, even though we had a no-smoking room. When I turned on the shower, a stagnant-water smell came out and I wasn't comfortable bathing there, so we showered at a friend's hotel. One washcloth I opened to wipe my dog's paws had fresh-looking black lines, as if it had been used, not washed, then folded for someone else. We also saw roaches whenever the lights were off, so my husband and I slept with all the lights on to keep them from crawling over us. The desk wasn't very approachable either. One dark evening, while my husband was in our bathroom and I needed to go, I went downstairs to see if there was another bathroom. I said excuse me three times before the guy acknowledged me, even though he was looking right at me. There's also a policy that says the hotel can change the room rate without telling the guest. That didn't affect our stay, but I wanted people to know so they can decide for themselves.
