Palace Inn Beltway 8 and Westview

For more than $100, this stay was absolutely not worth it, and we won't come back under any circumstances. The highway noise was constant, and the room was freezing all night. It was January and around 30°F outside, but the air conditioner/heater was set to 80°F and still blew cold air instead of working properly. The bed was another problem. The mattresses were unbelievably firm, like sleeping on the floor, and each bed only had two pillows, which felt nowhere near enough. The sheets and cover were dirty and wrinkled, with a strange stain visible in the photos that genuinely looks like feces. I strongly suspect the bedding hadn't been changed after the previous guest. The room and floor themselves were fairly clean, but the linens clearly hadn't been replaced. We also couldn't find a “Do Not Disturb” sign for the door. Before checkout at 11:00 a.m., the front desk called repeatedly, about 6-7 times, starting around 10:50 while we were packing. We didn't answer because we were already getting ready to leave on time, and those calls felt intrusive and unacceptable before checkout. At check-in, the front desk staff oddly asked how much I'd paid and insisted on verifying it. I had to pull up the Hotels.com app to show the price, which was a strange and uncomfortable exchange. There was coffee at the desk, but only powdered creamer, and it was so old and hardened that it wouldn't even come out of the packets.
