SpringHill Suites Houston Medical Center/NRG Park

The location is pretty good, and breakfast was an adequate standard continental spread. The rest was fairly average: service was OK, and the rooms were dated, with furniture that seemed to be falling apart. The old toilets didn't help, and the noisy air-conditioning could only be adjusted on the units beside the window. Check-in took a while because many people were waiting for one staff member, with no separate line for ambassadors. Parking was limited and a hassle, since an attendant had to let you in and out each time.

The breakfast was awful, aside from the Yoplait yogurt. The bagels were hard and tasted off, so I couldn't eat them. The room wasn't much better: it smelled old and unclean, looked dated, and had a very hard, bumpy bed with flat, hard pillows. We found a blood spot on the comforter, and the temperature kept swinging between hot and cool. The sofa was actually a trundle bed, making it frighteningly hard for us older guests to get back up after sitting to watch TV. The shower was difficult to adjust and kept dripping because it wouldn't turn off completely. Housekeeping seemed extremely overworked. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

We spent two nights here, and the room was clean and spacious, with a separate seating and work desk area. It had a comfortable bed, plenty of closet hangers, and a small microwave and refrigerator tucked under the wet bar. Staff were friendly, and the included breakfast was simple but did the job. The hotel is handy for a game at NRG stadium, an easy 15-20 minute walk away. Parking costs $12 a day, which seemed fine given what parking near a Texans game would cost. There are plenty of food, grocery, and drugstore options within a 10-15 minute drive. I'm giving four stars because it isn't a four- or five-star property.

Eli and the team did a great job looking after our employees during the winter storm. Everyone responded quickly and stayed calm and kind through all the chaos. I'm very grateful for how accommodating the staff were this weekend, and I look forward to working with the hotel again.
