Travelodge Hudsonville

Travelodge has a warm, community feel for both short and long stays. The rooms are a little banged up, but housekeeping keeps them cleaner than 90% of the pricier hotels I've stayed in. They keep costs low while still meeting my high expectations for hospitality. The owner, housekeeping staff, and everyone in between went out of their way to treat me, my two kids, and my dog like family. Breakfast isn't a traditional continental spread, but there are cereals, oatmeal, and toast each morning, plus coffee and refrigerated water throughout the day. This little place trades luxury for character. If you want a fancy resort vacation, it's not for you. But if you need somewhere to let your guard down and rest for a few nights, I highly recommend it.

Old-school charm, clean rooms, friendly staff, and accommodating housekeeping made for a great stay. I got a great deal for three nights, then five more. The continental breakfast was fine, and the heat and AC worked nicely. There's laundry, and it's a great place to park the Harley and walk to the HD dealer next door. It's nearbt awesome reefer services, and when we arrived there was a semi with a 53' trailer on the property, so truckers are welcome!

The desk staff were friendly, but the room had a horrible musty smell and damp carpet littered with remnants from past guests. The bed skirt was visibly dirty, and the comforter I had to ask for had a hole in it. Carpet and baseboards were pulling away from the walls, and a huge spider web hung from the ceiling right over my bed. There was very little overhead lighting. The toilet paper roll was nearly empty when we arrived, with no spare. We stayed almost four days, and staff never came by to refresh towels or toilet paper or empty the room's only garbage can. I had expected a budget-friendly place, but the side doors being accessible to anyone, including non-guests, was concerning.

The staff were really nice and helpful. Special thanks to Sean at the front desk, though I might have his name spelled wrong. He was very kind and generous. There's a supermarket called Maijer about a five-minute walk away, and the hotel is around a 20-minute drive from GRR airport. It's a convenient, peaceful place. Loved it.
