Hale Akua Garden Farm & Eco-Retreat

The farm animals, the sauna and jacuzzi, the cliff views over the waterfall and ocean, and our Lomi Lomi massage and private yoga session all made this feel like a 20/10 stay. We started with a tour, and the office had fresh fruit, vegetables, and herbs for sale. As an island girl from Haiti, I’ve never had a more magical experience visiting ANY island. Hale Akua is hard to describe, you really have to see and feel it for yourself. We brought in the new year with healing, love, nature, and community, and hope to come back soon. The waterfall house was a dream come true, and I’d stay here again whenever I’m on Maui. It felt like being close to nature. We did see roaches and lizards, but they didn’t bother us. The rooms were clean and cared for, though more photos of each one would make choosing easier. Kelsey was a wonderful host and always got back to us. We received the rules beforehand, which made things easy to communicate. It was raining, so we missed the farm tour, but my son enjoyed petting the chickens and cats. This peaceful place has everything you need to unwind, right at the start of the Road to Hana.

Really lovely place, and the staff were kind and accommodating. The dwellings are incredibly nice. Great views, swimming, t tubs, waterfalls. Can’t wait to come back!

The place was clean and had plenty of cooking tools, and it worked well for experiencing the Road to Hana. There was no AC in August, which took me a day to get used to, then it was fine. The beds weren’t terribly comfortable, and the circle bed was awkward to get in and out of or lounge on. The views were nice, though strong winds kept us from spending much time on the deck. There was only a lounge chair, with no real spot to sit together. I also wasn’t thrilled about the three-night minimum.
