Hunter Lodge, a Bluebird by Lark

We had a large room and a beautiful view, and the staff were very friendly. The fireplaces in both the lounge and tavern were a nice touch. A few things could use work: the hallways were too dark, and the room lighting felt harsh without being bright enough. The parking lot got muddy in the rain, and there’s a deep hole in the entrance road that needs attention. Still, a very nice stay.

The bed was ridiculously snug, and I was impressed that they offer housekeeping every night. My dog loved the second-floor back patio and all the mountain smells coming in. Coffee was available 24/7, and breakfast in the tavern by the roaring fire felt like a dream. I work in hotel operations and travel to hotels often, and that shower might be the best I’ve had. I wish dinner and the bar at Hunters Tavern were open all week, though I get why Thursday - Sunday makes more business sense. Thanks for being so kind and hosting us. We’d recommend this place again and hope to see you next time, Hunter & CatSkills! ✨

The room had two queen beds and plenty of space, and the beds were soft with wonderfully fluffy pillows. We especially liked the bathroom heat lamp, which kept us warm and could dry wet clothes. The lodge’s look mixes deep hunter greens, black wainscoting, plaid carpet, and warm wood for a comfortable blend of lived-in and contemporary. With continental breakfast and hot chocolate, tea, and coffee available all day, it worked really well for our family of four. The staff were helpful and courteous, and Hunter Mountain is only a three-minute drive away. The Hunter Lodge exceeded our expectations, and we’ll be back.

The tavern food was good, but the rooms were dark and noisy. Pipes banged through the night at irregular intervals, so bring earplugs. The climate control and mattresses were both uncomfortable. The continental breakfast was coffee, bagels, muffins, and yogurt, with no protein or juice.
