Motel 6 Huntington, WV

The place is horrible for your health, with bedbugs and insects throughout. The woman at reception is very rude and shows no respect for tenants. She takes away the carpets, blankets, and towels and never gives them back. You could say she discriminates against people, too.

I felt safe arriving alone late at night because the night shift employee was so welcoming and explained everything clearly. My little dog was accepted without any questions, and the room was very clean. In the morning, when my key card suddenly quit working, the woman on duty took time away from her other work to help and reassured me that my deposit would be returned. It was a genuinely good experience. And if you don't understand why motels charge a deposit, you've clearly never worked in customer service.

The manager told the employee to refuse my check-in because of my dogs. They have a two pet limit, and they counted my military service dog as a pet. The other two dogs are both under five pounds, so together they don't even add up to a full dog. I've never run into this at another Motel 6, since a military service dog isn't considered a pet. We regularly pick Motel 6 because of its pet policy.

I just wanted to get my key and go to bed after 12 hours of driving, but checking in at 1 AM was a frustrating experience. The front desk guy was rude and judgmental about our moving truck, asking where we planned to park it and then saying he didn't know. He said we should have called ahead. I told him the other three Motel 6s I'd stayed at that week hadn't had a problem, and if a truck needs to be mentioned in advance, that should be on the website. He had Fox News streaming in the background, too. Pets are allowed, but apparently not on the bed. There's also a $50 deposit that isn't mentioned online, and checkout is now 10 instead of 11 like at every other Motel 6. For an $80 room plus the $50 deposit, I'm just annoyed.
