Days Inn Hurley

We hadn't planned to stay and only stopped in by accident. The man at the front desk was entertaining, and the place seemed a big step up from other Days Inns we stayed at years ago. I'd consider it next time, though I wouldn't assume every Days Inn is like this one.

The staff are friendly, and the place has that small-town, “up north” feeling that made me feel at home. This was my second year staying here for a Nordic ski trip to ABR, five weeknights each time, and I plan to return next year. I usually shop around and get a great rate, which probably shapes how I feel about it. Rooms are clean and comfortable, and breakfast is okay. It was more filling on the weekend, but pretty skimpy during the week when there were fewer guests. The pool and sauna are nice, and the hot tub would be a plus too, though it was out of order this visit. Small issues were taken care of promptly.

The room was clean, the breakfast was good, and the staff were great. There was a really harsh ammonia smell outside one of the second-floor rooms we had to pass when going in and out of the back door.

The room was pretty ordinary, about what I've had at a Motel 6. When I tried calling the front desk from the room, the phone didn't work. I went down and spoke to the clerk, who said quite a few of the room phones were out. I booked through the toll-free number and was quoted $140. After taking my card details, the woman said the total was $211 “after taxes and fees,” and that it had already been charged.
