College Park Marriott Hotel & Conference Center

The hotel was comfortable, well cared for, and convenient for the UMD area, but the front desk team made the stay especially nice. Sam, Flame, and Trudy greeted my son and me with so much warmth and positive energy that we felt valued from the start. I’d happily recommend the Marriott at the University of Maryland to anyone visiting nearby.

The room was clean and comfortable, and the discounted third-party rate made the stay worthwhile. We were in the second building, where the room was very small. The main drawback was the half-open shower and glass bathroom walls, which meant using the bathroom could wake anyone else in the room. There was plenty of hot water, though I had to stand right next to the shower wall to use it. At the much higher regular rate, I’d only consider staying for the convenience of being close to Maryland sports events, and only if I didn’t want to go to the local bars on the other side of campus.

The hotel side rooms have been redone, and I really liked the new look. Staff were always smiling, friendly, and ready with a hello. My one real problem was in the accessible room: the closet rod was low, which I appreciated, but there were no hooks or higher rod for long clothes. I had two dresses and had to figure out an improvised way to hang them.

The rooms were comfy and clean, and the staff were accommodating and friendly. It was also quiet and peaceful during my visit since there weren’t any conferences going on. I was pleasantly surprised by the decent food and friendly service at the hotel kitchen bar, plus there’s a large private parking garage.
