New Hotel Collection Harbourside

Our stay was frustrating enough that I wouldn't recommend this hotel. The pool was said to stay open until 9:30 PM, but it actually closed at 6:00 PM. We paid $22.00 for parking and got only about two hours of pool access, so it didn't feel worthwhile. The pool area was too small for the number of people there and felt overcrowded and uncomfortable. Getting to it was inconvenient too, since we had to leave the hotel and walk through the parking garage, including when we needed to return to the room for personal items. The layout didn't seem designed with guest comfort in mind. Parking also caused unnecessary stress: at check-in, the concierge gave us a pass and told us to put it on the dashboard. The next morning, we found a notice saying the car shouldn't have been parked there and would be towed if it happened again. The conflicting directions from hotel staff were unacceptable.

The hotel was nice, with free parking and a water park next door, and the beach is close by. We stayed in a studio, but you can hear everything from the one-bedroom unit beside it. Their cooking smells come through, the kids check your door, and the noise can wake you up.

The room was the biggest problem. It didn’t feel clean: there were roaches by the shower door, the bathroom floor needed sweeping, and we found a gross booger on the pillowcase. The air conditioner was loud, too. The pool situation was confusing. We checked in around 5:20, only to learn the slides closed at 6, and we couldn’t use the pool for free until 6 p.m. They don’t have their own pool, so guests use Splash Harbor. I used to hear such good things about this hotel, but it feels like it may have run its course. The housekeeping mess seems to have piled up and become hard to deal with. Mariah at the counter was a great help, and the maintenance guy was friendly and helpful. I usually avoid posting bad reviews, but this stay was rough.

My fiancé and I left at 3 a.m. because we couldn’t take the room anymore. The AC barely worked, the shower had almost no pressure and was so small it was uncomfortable, and a loud dryer-like noise kept going all night. The walls were paper-thin, with just a flimsy connecting door, so we could hear the neighbors talking. The water park sounded appealing, but check-in is at 4 p.m. and it closes at 6, leaving almost no time to enjoy it. The pass also covers only one person per room, with an extra charge for a second guest. One of my most disappointing hotel stays, and definitely not worth the money.
