Baymont Inn & Suites Indianapolis

The room was what I expected, and the price was reasonable. There’s a pool and a hot tub, and breakfast is the standard spread of eggs, waffles, biscuits and gravy, and sausage links. The stairway smelled like a campfire when we arrived, and the elevator makes a really scary noise on the way to the third floor.

Getting to the hotel was easy, right off the highway, and we could park our trailer along the curb. The pool and hot tub were kept open until midnight for us, and breakfast had a big variety of food. It’s dog friendly, with a nice grassy area to walk them. Very nice hotel.

I’d had a good experience here before: the breakfast was great, the hot tub was good, the location suited what I needed to do, and the staff were helpful. This visit, though, I was traveling with my ill dad and had booked a two-queen accessible room through the hotel’s specific website. They had overbooked the accessible rooms, so ours wasn’t available. The staff member tried to arrange two accessible king rooms connected by a door, but said we’d have to pay for the extra room. Our original booking was just over $230 for two days; the two connected king rooms came to $460 after a discount for the inconvenience. I was disappointed they’d given our room to someone else and expected us to cover the difference. It was far beyond our travel budget, so we had to cancel and leave. We booked a two-queen accessible room at the Hamptons by the airport instead. It was probably the best disability room I’ve stayed in, and the last-minute booking was $290 for two nights. If you need an accessible room at Baymont, call several days ahead to make sure you can actually get one. They don’t hold the rooms for you, and the overbooking felt like an airline.

This is about our stay on 12/26/22, which I forgot to review at the time. On the morning of 12/27/26, the person in charge said my service dog couldn’t enter the dining room, even though service dogs are clearly allowed there. As a veteran with my second service dog, I know my rights, and I believe what this Wyndham property did was against the law. I should have called the ADA, but it was the holidays and I chose to spend the time with my family instead of fighting it. My service dog is allowed in restaurant and hotel dining rooms across the country. The rooms were dirty and nothing special, the hotel smelled strongly of cigarette and pot smoke, and people were cussing loudly at each other in the parking lot.
