Motel 6 Indio, CA - Palm Springs

I'm on night three of a four-night stay, and the noise has been a problem. Last night people outside were loud and obnoxious, and my neighbor had a stereo blasting while smoking pot that seeped into my room. The night before, there was noise and people wandering around until late in the morning. I don't feel safe approaching anyone to ask them to be considerate, and I wouldn't recommend staying here. When I arrived the first night, my reservation had been canceled for no stated reason, even though I'd confirmed late check-in was okay. I was put in a smoking room instead of the nonsmoking room I'd booked, though they switched me later that day.

I won't stay here again. The room was disgusting, with drywall dust everywhere, a filthy floor, and a shower that looked like it hadn't been cleaned since the place opened. My reservation was canceled because the card I used to hold it was in my car in another country, so I planned to pay with my Visa instead. They wanted full payment before I arrived and well before check-in time, then tried to charge double to book again. The front desk guy was absolutely rude, and I ended up sharing my friend's room.

People walked by our room talking loudly all night, and the parking lot felt shady. A train went by every hour, too. The staff were great, and the room was fairly clean, but the shower was pretty gross and there was no hot water at the sink. The phone and microwave were broken, though they fixed the microwave right away. Who needs a hotel phone anyway? Good staff, but the neighborhood made this a bad stay. If loud conversations outside and hourly trains sound fine to you, stay here, though I'd choose another hotel.

We checked in, then left right away because we didn't feel safe. We had to step around what appeared to be drug users hanging out on the stairs and digging through the trash.
