Super 8 by Wyndham Indio

We canceled as soon as we got our key cards because we didn't feel safe. When we arrived, the two male front desk employees seemed not to be in a proper state of mind. They acted erratically, staring at guests and smirking, and were arguing heatedly with a younger group of guests. There was a lot of shouting and profanity, and it nearly became physical. One employee spoke to guests with an unlit cigarette in his mouth, despite the visible No Smoking sign outside the main entrance. It added to the lack of professionalism and disregard for hotel rules. We called the police, but they couldn't act because nothing physical had happened. In the lobby, several other guests came down with complaints, including TV remotes and door locks that weren't working. The whole experience was shocking and deeply unsettling. This felt like behavior you'd expect in a bar with intoxicated people, not at a hotel front desk. It happened on December 27, 2025, between about 7:00 and 8:00 PM, so management should be able to identify the employees on duty.

The room was clean, but the refrigerator wouldn't cool and had no adjustment for it. Breakfast was below par for a Super 8: just Special K cereal, toast, and a little fruit. I would've liked an elevator, which some Super 8 locations have, and a lobby map to help find my room. This place isn't near the freeway, and I had to use Google Maps to locate it. There didn't seem to be wifi, since there was no password on the room key card sleeve. The TV couldn't pick up any stations either, and there were no instructions for using the two remotes.

I've loved staying here with my two grandchildren. I wish I'd known about it earlier, when I first became homeless. If you need a clean, peaceful place, come here, you won't regret it. The customer service is great, and the staff are so courteous and professional. Anyone with a hotel voucher should choose this place.

I might have let the room's flaws go, like the janky faucet and door handle, stained sheets, and hairs I had to pull out of the bed. But a quarter-sized cockroach crawling over my head woke me up, and that's where I draw the line. The front desk offered a discount on a future stay, but there's no chance I'd return. It was awful, though I guess at least I had a roof and a bed. Would not recommend!
