Amelia's Landing Hotel

The room was the last straw: it smelled strongly of mold, mildew, and cigarettes, and the shower had dark grime that looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. Outside, the front desk attendant was chain-smoking. Earlier, we’d seen office-style chairs in the main walkway under a “No Smoking” sign, with three ashtray cups below. A man in oversized black clothes, sunglasses, and a crossbody fanny pack stared at us in a way that made us uneasy. He wandered around, and we eventually realized he worked there. His behavior and appearance didn’t feel professional, and the atmosphere was unsettling. The pool was listed as an amenity but was closed and covered in green algae. Breakfast was advertised, but for four people there were only six choices in total, drinks included: a croissant, muffin, breakfast bar, juice, or water. One person would have to pick a drink or a very poor snack, not both. Even the initial greeting was unpleasant because the woman at the desk smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. Nothing in the ads or reviews prepared us for this. Stay somewhere else. This place isn’t what it claims to be.

We liked the interesting decor throughout the hotel, and it’s close to the beach and other island activities. The pool area was clean and looked after. The hotel itself is quaint, cozy, and clean, and the staff were really friendly. They even brought breakfast to our door in the morning, which felt very thoughtful.

We couldn’t use the pool because of the weather, though it looked spotless, like the rest of Amelia’s Landing. Breakfast was left at our door, which was so kind, and our host and the owner were just as thoughtful. The room was clean and comfortable. Thanks for a pleasant stay. We hope to see you again.

The service was fine, and the front desk lady was very sweet and accommodating. The room decor was cute, but the room we got on 07/24/2025 was gross. There was black stuff smeared on all the sheets and pillowcases, yellow stains, and hairs in the bed. We asked for a fresh set, and she was incredibly nice about it, but the replacement sheets had the same problem. Breakfast delivered to the room sounded great, but everything was warm when we picked it up around 7:00 AM. There were also little creepy crawlies in the shower. Housekeeping needs serious work.
