Holiday Inn Express Richmond I-64 Short Pump Area by IHG

We'd come back. The room was very, very clean, and the hotel stayed surprisingly quiet even with kids and teens around. The location was fantastic, near lots of shops and stores. Service was pretty good, though I didn't see the staff much. We did have to ask for fresh towels. I'm not sure whether this is one of the hotels that skips daily clean sheets and towels for environmental reasons, so it's something to know, not a complaint.

Breakfast had plenty to choose from, and it was hot, fresh, and kept well stocked. The dining area was clean and organized too. The whole property felt fresh and comfortable, with spotless, updated spaces from the time I arrived. Staff were among the friendliest and most professional I've met on the road, and they took care of every detail. I had a wonderful stay at the Holiday Inn Express, which exceeded what I expected. I'd recommend it for a welcoming, comfortable stay, whether you're traveling for work or for fun.

The room stayed warmer and more humid than we wanted because the AC wasn't working well, even though it was April and shouldn't have had to work that hard. Breakfast is another disappointment. We stay at IHG hotels about 30 nights a year and have noticed the quality dropping across the brand. Fresh fruit is mostly gone, apart from maybe a brown banana. On the plus side, this hotel was clean, reasonably priced, and conveniently close to the highway.

The one thing that bothered me was the window in my room. There was a gap between the panels, so it wouldn't close fully, and because I faced the street I could hear traffic all night. Aside from that, it's a good hotel: the rooms were clean, staff were friendly and welcoming, and the free breakfast was quite good, with hot food and coffee. The construction nearby was easy enough to get around, and even google maps showed the route. There's also a nice range of places to eat nearby, so I'd recommend it.
