Badlands Hotel and Campground

Mike was the best Camp Host I’ve come across, really kind and helpful. We had a very nice stay at Campground Cedar Pass, and every time I used the bathrooms or showers they were perfectly clean. If I’m back this way, I hope Mike is hosting again. Thanks so much.

Our gravel site was nice and the hookups worked great. The staff were friendly and chatty, and I liked that the basic store also carried local beer and wine. Prices around here run high, which makes sense given how far away the shops are. The nearest grocery store is over an hour away, so plan ahead. The toilets were fine, but the showers and bathrooms were the main drawback. People left messes, and the bathroom farther away didn’t seem to get cleaned often. It was usually wet, with hair all over. The showers in the bathroom attached to the building felt cramped. Dogs are welcome, though you share a common area with your neighbor.

We spent one night in a tent here, mainly so we could get out to explore the Badlands early. The view of the Badlands was spectacular. The bathrooms were a bit gross, though my fiancée wasn't bothered by them. There was also a kitty wandering around the campsite, which was fine with us.

For a family of five visiting Badlands NP, the location was hard to beat and we thought it was good value. Our room had coffee and a fridge, and the kids watched a movie on TV in the evening. The beds were clean and comfortable, the shower was great, and the A/C cooled the room nicely after hot days hiking. Check-in was easy, and everyone we met was pleasant. We knew from reading reviews that the pool would probably be closed, and that didn't really bother us. We've stayed at dozens of places this year, especially near National Parks, where the location is what you're paying for. We don't usually care whether the furniture matches or whether there's a hair dryer when we're there to hike. There's a playground a few blocks into Interior, and Wall has a free community pool. If you're pretty laid back, this place does the trick.
