Staybridge Suites DFW Airport North by IHG

The room and bathroom were clean and comfortable, and I liked having a full kitchen. It was also much quieter than I expected for somewhere near the main highway and airport. I’ll stay here again when I’m in Dallas for flights.

The ride to the airport was a really uncomfortable experience. I’d asked about leaving earlier, but was told the shuttle started at 7:00. When I went to the pickup area then, no driver was there. Tod came out of the back room about 10 minutes later. I asked if he could take me, but he said I was on the next ride and wouldn’t be flexible. Later, during the drive, he spoke condescendingly and lectured me the whole way. I felt very uncomfortable. I also left a watch in the room, and housekeeping never turned it in. Johnathon at the front desk was professional, supportive, and genuinely caring, and represented the IHG brand well. I love staying at this hotel, but management needs to address this incident and make sure staff uphold the same standards as Johnathon and the other staff.

The staff were polite, though not especially friendly, but the state of the property made it hard to relax. There was a strong musty smell when we arrived, and it looked like the hotel hadn’t been maintained well. Furniture in the room and common areas had visible nicks and wear. Our refrigerator made noise all night, and the toilet seat didn’t match the bowl. Those details added up, and the place felt like an older property that had been renovated quickly without much care for comfort. The online photos had me looking forward to the stay, but the experience didn’t live up to them. I wouldn’t return without significant improvements.

We needed two beds because we were traveling with our son, but after two room changes we wound up with one king bed and no sheets for the pull-out couch. The front desk’s response when we called was dismissive, so the three of us squeezed into the king for the night. It was anything but restful. We arrived late and found blood stains on the first room’s sheets. The second room hadn’t been cleaned at all, with unmade beds and used towels on the floor. We’ve been Diamond Elite members and stayed at many IHG hotels over the years, usually with good results. This weekend was an extreme disappointment. Do better, IHG.
