Hilton Garden Inn Jacksonville Airport

For a quick overnight stop while passing through Florida, this was a solid choice. The room was comfortable, though there was a noticeable stain near the window and a slight odor when the AC came on. The bathroom was usable but worn, and the toilet had very weak pressure. We ordered a shot at the bar for a nightcap, but the bartender made a cocktail instead, so it took longer than expected for an airport hotel.

Being so close to the airport was handy, but I wouldn't stay here again. The neighborhood didn't feel safe, and the bathroom seemed especially dirty. The vanity's silver finish rubbed off on me, which was concerning, and there was hair and a brown substance running down the shower walls. I knew the price was low, but I still expected the room to feel clean.

The rooms are comfortable, the AC works great, and the location puts you close to just about everything. The real reason I keep coming back, though, is the staff. The front desk team is so helpful and kind, and after two years away they remembered my face and name as soon as I walked in. That felt really heartwarming. I used to stay here for work during NFL games for my airline, and two years ago I was here for about six months. Jacksonville is a city I love, so I'll book here again the next time work brings me back.

The beds were comfortable, though they creaked, and the room had a musty smell when we walked in because the climate control had been turned off. What bothered me most was having to pay for breakfast at a Hilton. Breakfast has been complimentary at every other Hilton I've stayed at. The cafe staff weren't very attentive, and my order was missing everything that was supposed to be included. The coffee was burnt and weak, and I've had better at Pilot truck stops. The food was decent, but I've had better at Waffle House in East Atlanta. I think I'll switch my rewards program to Holiday Inn.
