Knights Inn Jacksonville East Morton Ave

After driving for 16 exhausting hours, I was so glad to get a comfortable room. It was quiet, clean, and more spacious than expected. The location worked perfectly, right off the highway and close to places to go. The staff were fantastic, friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Great service for the price. I definitely recommend it and will be back. Huge thanks to the staff for making the stay so nice!

For $60, the room was decent and clean. It was late, so I didn't bother asking about the missing remote batteries or shower curtain. The front desk worker wasn't very sociable and seemed unsure whether a room was available. Still, it's a reasonable place for the price.

The room had carpet stains, a bad smell, and a bleak vibe, but what made me leave was a large bug crawling from the pillow onto the headboard. I returned the key and told the desk. She chuckled and said bugs come in when it rains because it's an old place. I expected a paid room to be bug free, so I left and slept in a gas station parking lot. I stand by that choice. There's no reason for business travelers or, in my view, any travelers to stay here. There are plenty of nearby options. Pay more elsewhere, or sleep in your car. Getting that room was a mess too. I had called twice the day before to check whether a 3 am check-in was okay, and Tami said it was reasonable and would be accommodated. But when I arrived, the door was locked and Shellie told me there were no rooms left. She kept getting my name wrong, so I showed her my reservation confirmation and typed it on my phone through the locked office glass. Then she said she had a room and asked for payment, though I had paid in full. I had to call the reservation company, which contacted her. Only then did she find my reservation on a paper she said she'd audited at 130 that morning. Tami was on the phone with her, though Shellie hadn't known who had worked the previous morning. She told me to read a dense form and pointed out there was no note on it. Forty-five minutes after I arrived, I finally got a key to that room.

The rooms were nice, though I didn't need anything from the staff. There wasn't free breakfast, and the East side location meant driving halfway up Morton just to find food. I checked the weekly price for a room with a kitchen, and around $400 a week was way too much for me. Apartments are expensive too, and I still haven't decided where to move. I hope MCH has something soon.
