SureStay by Best Western Jacksonville Airport

The property looks recently remodeled, and there's truck parking. It's in a great spot near the airport, I-95, restaurants, and gas stations. Clean, quiet, and comfortable. I'd definitely stay again.

The manager's behavior and the property's safety concerns made this a very disappointing stay. After two hours of phone tag to confirm my booking, the person I was told was the manager, who enforced what he called "my dad rules," said the hotel was full when I asked to move from a smoking room. The night attendant moved me to a non-smoking room later that evening, so the manager's claim seemed false. The next day, he imposed an inconsistent limit of four towels for three guests. The worst incident was when the manager came to our room and questioned my partner. After confirming we were together, he insulted me, calling me "the big big girl" and criticizing my attitude. That was disrespectful and unprofessional toward a paying guest. Outside, homeless people, apparent drug users, and people openly smoking cannabis were a visible, constant presence in the parking lot and around the property. It made us feel unsafe and uncomfortable throughout the stay. Given the manager's apparent deception, personal attack, and the safety issues, I strongly recommend avoiding this location. No low price makes that conduct acceptable.

We checked into Room 110 at 5:00 PM, but left within minutes because the door wouldn't secure properly and we felt unsafe. We told the front desk right away and were refused a refund. The room smelled, too, and the owner was hostile. If management replies with a generic apology, I'd want them to answer the actual questions: why assign a room with a broken door, and why refuse a refund when we left immediately?

The staff and location were great, but the rooms were only so-so. It feels like a partly renovated motel, with fresh paint and new furniture, yet cracks in the floor and bathroom tile are still unrepaired.
