La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Jamestown

The location in the heart of Jamestown was handy, with plenty of bars and restaurants you could walk to. We were passing through on the way to a Bills game, and the room was clean, the beds and pillows comfortable, and breakfast had a decent selection. It was quite filling, too. The price for one night was very reasonable, and I’d stay again. The guy at the front counter was quiet and could use some customer service training, though the woman who checked us out in the morning was very pleasant. Our shower also needed the body wash and shampoo refilled.

I’ve stayed here through several rebrandings, going back to when it was a Best Western, and it’s consistently been clean and comfortable. The rates are reasonable, and as usual, I was happy with the stay. It’s convenient to the town’s three big draws: the National Comedy Center, a surprisingly interesting, thoughtfully designed place; the Lucy Museum, where it was nice to learn about the difficult life she had despite all the laughs she gave us; and the Northwest Wrena, an event and hockey venue. We also came across the Wright Aviation Museum in the old Hotel Jamestown. It was free, and a helpful volunteer there turned out to be a retired radio announcer from local flagship WJTN.

I stayed for five days and had a wonderful time. My room was clean and comfortable, and housekeeping kept the hallways tidy. A small maintenance problem came up on the first day and was taken care of promptly. Matthew, the evening desk clerk, was helpful and pleasant. I’ve stayed at this location several times before and have never had an issue.

The room was clean, quiet, and comfortable, with convenient parking and easy access to museums, food, and a walk around town. Breakfast was eggs and baked toast, without meat, and the only cold water came in small bottles. The frustrating part was getting in: nobody was at the desk for more than 15 minutes, and calling the desk from my phone didn’t get anyone’s attention. The pool key didn’t work either, so getting into the pool depended on finding the front desk person.
