Baymont Inn & Suites Janesville

The staff were great, and our room was clean with no problems. Parking was a little scarce. What put me off was people hanging around and smoking right by the doors. Hotels that care usually put smoking areas farther away, especially from the front entrance. I’d look for another hotel next time I’m in the area.

The bed was comfortable and clean, and the floor, bathroom, and other surfaces were clean too. The staff were friendly and diligent. A few things needed attention: the room phone didn’t work, and they replaced it, then did the same with the hair dryer. The cover over the sink light fell while we were brushing our teeth. Luckily it was plastic and didn’t break, and staff came to put it back up.

The facilities didn’t match the room rate. The room smelled musty and the shower kept dripping. Hallways smelled strongly of marijuana, and one evening there was so much smoke in the hall that we went to report it. Another guest was already talking to the clerk, who said he didn’t care as long as the hotel wasn’t on fire. The clerk at check-in had also been somewhat rude and dismissive. Breakfast the next morning wasn’t as advertised: the eggs and sausage were in bags in the fridge and needed microwaving.

The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable, though things looked a little dated. One tub faucet dripped constantly. Breakfast was basic but had choices, including cereal, a waffle maker, bagels, muffins, coffee, juice, and breakfast sandwiches to microwave. We pulled off the road because of a storm. Tornado sirens went off several times, and I was surprised nobody offered a safe place, though maybe there isn’t one. I appreciated that they let us and many others shelter in the lobby. We decided to stay when another round of storms came through.
