Residence Inn by Marriott Jekyll Island

The oceanfront balcony on the ground floor was perfect. We could enjoy the views, the sound of the waves, and a peaceful, restful atmosphere. The hotel was quiet and relaxing, exactly what we wanted. The kitchen was fully equipped with pots and pans provided by the hotel, and worked well for our needs. The living room was laid out nicely and comfortable, but the pull-out couch was very uncomfortable. After the first night, our son chose to sleep directly on the couch, which worked better for him. There was plenty to enjoy outside, including games, fire pits, easy beach access, and a private picnic table area near the dunes. The pool and hot tub were great, and the bridge across the pool added to the experience. Breakfast had an excellent selection and was better than we expected. We also stopped frequently at the lobby Starbucks, and everything we tried at the lobby restaurant was top-notch. We visited Marriott Jekyll Island in the off-season, when the price was more approachable. It can cost more during peak season, but I think the comfort, amenities, location, and overall experience fully justify the expense. We’ll absolutely be back!

The location is a huge part of it, right on a wonderfully beautiful beach at Jekyll Island. From an oceanfront room, the sunrise is fabulous, and the balcony gets warm enough for sunbathing no matter what the temperature is outside. The hotel is well kept and a great facility. We’ll definitely be back.

A terrible place. Our 25th anniversary was spoiled by the awful view. The room’s so-called ocean and balcony view actually looked out at a roof and a wall. I can’t see why they don’t show room views on the website. You couldn’t see the ocean, sunset, or sunrise unless you were standing on the beach. They charged $370 on my card for holding the room, and three weeks later it was still there and wouldn’t come off. I called multiple times and got nowhere. The place and company were the worst, they did nothing to help. Don’t stay there and risk having your trip ruined too.

Our room was comfortable, we slept well, and having breakfast included was a nice perk. The breakfast area is too small for a property this size, though, so one morning we had to eat outside. Some parts of the hotel also needed a thorough cleaning, even if the Labor Day weekend may have contributed. Staff were great, and I’d stay again. This was our second visit to Jekyll Island. We chose Residence Inn by Marriott for its beachside location and the extra room, booking an ocean-view balcony room six months ahead for two nights. At check-in, we were told that room wasn’t available. I let them know I was frustrated, and the staff member helping us worked out an agreement with us to take a room overlooking the parking lot.
