We rented a condo and made our own meals. Exploring Jekyll Island was a lot of fun, with its huge beaches and interesting sights.
I’ve generally stayed here over the years, so I say this respectfully: the rooms haven’t changed since we first started coming. The furniture is the same, and the TVs are too. One works, the other doesn’t. The villas really need upgrading, and the price has gone up without the comfort improving. The locations are wonderful, and the desk staff are great. Those rooms need help. Thanks for your time.
The villa wasn’t right on the beach, but from the patio I could see and hear the ocean. It was peaceful, and I’d love to make this a yearly trip, if the Lord wills. I highly recommend Villas by the Sea if you’re after a restful, peaceful, welcoming stay. I had a wonderful experience there. Terra at the front desk went above and beyond to help extend my stay, even when it seemed availability might be a problem. She was kind and patient, and made me feel cared for.
We love the location and the flexibility of having a three-bedroom villa, and I’m still looking forward to our stay. But when we reserved in August, the restaurant appeared to be open, so we went ahead with the booking. We chose the property because around this time last year it had a food truck and a cafe/store. Now I hear the restaurant is closed again, and the desk clerk said there’s no food available on the property. If that’s true, it’s unfortunate. Hotels.come, Google maps, and other sites may need to update their listings after confirming with the right property staff. I had a great birthday experience there last year.
We enjoyed exploring the island, with its beautiful natural landscape and wildlife. We visited during Thanksgiving week, and the Christmas lights and decorations were already up, which really got us in the Christmas spirit. There’s a $ 10 toll to enter the island, and plenty to do within a few miles, including a gas station, places to eat, a water park, golf, and shopping. We really didn’t need to leave. The one-bedroom unit we stayed in had an ocean view and was on the first floor. As others have mentioned, rooms can be dated, and I think it depends on the unit since they’re individually owned. The view was somewhat limited, but a few steps from our back patio took us to the little boardwalk/pavilion running alongside the ocean. Stairs on one side were blocked off for repairs. The tide was high, so water came right up to the stairs and we couldn’t walk along the boardwalk or get to the beach from there. Even so, we loved the view, especially the sunlight sparkling on the water like gold. It’s easy to see why this area is called the Golden Isles. Service was great at check-in and check-out. Housekeeping didn’t enter our unit during the stay, but we could contact the front desk if we needed anything, and they would drop it at our front door.
