Canopy by Hilton Jersey City Arts District

We stayed at the Canopy by Hilton Jersey city for four days before Christmas. The lobby looked nice, check-in was easy, and our room was ready 20 minutes after we arrived. It was clean and spacious, but the beds were awful, very soft and sunken. My husband and I both had hip and back pain. I asked to change rooms, and the front desk said the beds were known for being soft. They offered another room for me to check, but its bed was the same, so there was no point moving. Breakfast was included for the whole stay and the food was good, but service was extremely slow. I don't blame the staff, but one server and one cook for the whole restaurant isn't enough. On our last day, we waited an hour and 20 minutes without getting food, so we had to leave. When you're on vacation, you want to get out and see things, not lose time at breakfast. The location is fine, though staying in NYC is much more convenient if that's where you're headed. I expected more from a Canopy property, especially one that's known to be a bit more upscale. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

Such a cozy hotel, in a great spot next to the metro and places to eat. The staff were all super kind, and Lizbeth at the front desk got us checked in early. The beds were comfy too. Can't wait to come back :)

The staff and upkeep are what made this stay so good for my family. Bathrooms, the gym, and shared areas were all well cared for, and everyone from the desk to housekeeping was terrific. I’d gladly return to this Hilton. A few small snags kept me at four stars. Three towels had makeup on them when we arrived, though a housekeeper in the hall swapped them right away. The crib sheets took around two hours: we asked at about 11 p.m. and got them around 1:34 a.m. Breakfast was underwhelming, and we were charged for the kids’ meals despite breakfast being included. I didn’t think it was worth arguing over.

Getting into NYC was easy, with the train station just steps away, and the Canopy worked well for both business and leisure. Our room was roomy, comfortable, and clean. The friendly, helpful staff made things pleasant from check-in through check-out. We had a wonderful stay and would come back.
