Quality Inn Jessup - Columbia South Near Fort Meade

**CAUTION** My granddaughter was shaken and crying after we found two men in her room on Sunday night. We had three rooms on two reservations, each booked for three nights from 1/23/2026 through 1/26/2026, and had returned after extending our stay because of heavy snow. The hotel gave her another room for that night, but that was not an adequate response to a dangerous incident. We still don’t know how the men got into the room or were let in. We were told security footage would be checked, but got no information. The manager had promised to call, yet more than a week passed with no call despite messages, emails, and a detailed note left at the desk. Update, 2/4/2026: After more than a week trying to reach the manager, and getting no support from Choice Hotels International, I finally got through after several more calls that day. He refunded only one of the nine room nights, after first trying to refund less than I was charged, and refused compensation for the items my granddaughter lost. The manager blamed the front desk clerk. That doesn’t make sense to me. Even if there was confusion about extending the reservation, her key card should have been changed between guests, and her card shouldn’t have opened a room occupied by those men. Why would they accept a room with someone else’s belongings, wet towels on the floor, and an unmade bed?

I paid for the rooms in full through Priceline, but at the hotel I was told there was also a required $100 fee for each room. She asked if she could charge my card and said the fee would be refunded in a couple of days if there was no damage. I asked what I’d paid Priceline for and showed my confirmation number, but she said that had nothing to do with this separate fee. Since I’d already paid and hadn’t agreed to another charge, I didn’t give permission. I’ve learned to research both the hotel and its location more carefully.

The rooms are a decent size and the staff were helpful and courteous, which is why I gave two stars. My work table had no outlet, though a $5 extension cord could fix that. There was hair in the washbasin and bathtub, and all three towels in my room were dirty, one with hair strands on it. I’m not sure the linens and towels are being washed at all. The breakfast bread and corn flakes need to be better quality too.

On a long road trip, the room was a decent size and reasonably priced when I needed to stop somewhere without a plan. Still, I wouldn’t stay here again.
