The suite suited us perfectly. The bed was comfortable, the linens were clean, and both the bathroom and spa bath were spotless. The Keurig, microwave, fridge, and heating and air conditioning all worked as they should. For the price, we thought it was a marvelous stay and would come back. We knew from the website to expect narrow stairs and tight spaces in an old historic building, so that wasn’t a surprise. Check-in through the front door was easy, and parking behind the building was convenient. The living room and kitchen were quaint and clean. One thing that could use attention is the back stairs and top balcony: some wood is weather-damaged, and the lighting could be better.

Check-in was easy even though we arrived late, and parking seemed decent at first. Then we got to suite 0. The basement room smelled musty and of mildew, the carpet was disgusting, and paint was peeling from the bathroom walls. It was noisy, too, with constant stomping on the stairs. On multiple evenings we found used, dried contacts on the bathroom floor and bedside tables. There wasn’t any toilet paper in the room, but after we contacted the property manager, housekeeping brought some within minutes, which was nice. The location is manageable if you’re willing to walk more than a mile to the town center or pay around $7 for an Uber. Given a choice, I wouldn’t stay here again.

We paid over $200 a night and felt badly let down. The room was on the third floor, something I wouldn’t have booked had I known ahead of time, and the jacuzzi had broken knobs, so we didn’t try it. I had to plunge the toilet twice after using it. The upper deck looked different from the pictures, needed a serious paint job, and felt squishy in some spots. Parts of the outside steps were broken and also badly needed paint. I messaged the owner with my complaints and got no reply. I wish I’d read the reviews first. This definitely isn’t a hotel, and we’ll never return. We were very disappointed and felt scammed.

The room wasn’t clean and didn’t look like the listing photos. The beds were uncomfortable, and there were plenty of small signs that corners had been cut. Much of the property seemed cheaply and carelessly put together. We left an hour after arriving and never stayed. There had been an ice storm forecast for days, but the large staircase up to Mountain View Suites had no salt or ice melt on it. Inside, the place felt drab and neglected, with no one on site. We also saw several bricks plugged into outlets and sticking out to power the hallway lights. The property is close to town, but it sits right next to a completely boarded-up house, which added to our unease. Afterward, we tried several times to reach the property directly and through Agoda, without a response. The phone wasn’t being answered, and Agoda said they couldn’t reach them either. The safety concerns, condition, and lack of care made the experience unacceptable. There are far better and more honest places to stay in Jim Thorpe. Save yourself the stress and expense.

Our basement suite was nothing like the description. It was a small, dirty, musty, uncomfortable room, and the air conditioner didn’t work properly. The rolling floor unit kept disconnecting, and the humidity was 87%. The cabinets were chipped and stuffed with random construction items. The rug and bathroom floor were filthy. Outside, chunks were missing from the wooden steps, and the stairway had no light at all. There was a dilapidated, boarded-up house next door. This place felt like a crack den.
