We won’t be back. The room had broken lights and random metal bits by the window, and the Wi-Fi didn’t work. The doors also had gaps above and below them, and screws were missing from the locks. The side and back building doors didn’t require a keycard, which made the place feel very insecure. We chose this hotel partly because the pictures showed a pool, but there actually wasn’t one. There was only basic cable, no smart TV, so I couldn’t use Paramount or anything else. The heat was set to 70, which was unbearably hot for us since we keep it at 74 at home. Someone sat outside my third-floor window playing loud music until after 10pm. I called the front desk and was told they’d handle it. I watched for ten minutes, called the law when the music continued, and they kept playing it in the parking lot for another 15 minutes before going inside the hotel. My wife and I have always stayed with Comfort, so we know what to expect, and this wasn’t it.
We had a solid stay, and I’d come back. The only real snags were the extra cost for three pets, which I understand, and a clogged tub. The woman at the desk quickly noted it and put in a maintenance work order. The room and hall were clean, the place smelled nice, and the tile and vinyl floors made traveling with pets easy. Our room had clean white sheets, towels, and hand towels, and the AC worked perfectly. It looked modern and well cared for, like it had been updated within the last 10 years. Breakfast was pretty good too. The two front desk women I dealt with were lovely, and housekeeping respected our privacy with our four-legged friends. With hotel prices these days, it wasn’t a bad experience at all.
We ended up writing this from another hotel because we had to find a new place at the last minute. We arrived around midnight after a long drive, and the first room had no latch and smelled strongly of cigarettes. We had a wedding the next day, so we asked to switch. The front desk woman was unfriendly, but did move us. The next room’s door was completely broken and wouldn’t lock at all, with a huge gap where people could see inside. We were two women traveling alone somewhere unfamiliar. A door that locks is the bare minimum, and they couldn’t provide even that. For your safety, spend your money somewhere else, or pay a little extra.
The price didn’t match what we got. The online search listed $105, but the room actually cost $199. The front desk service was adequate, neither friendly nor rude. The room was okay and clean enough, until I found somebody else’s hair in the bed the next morning. There also wasn’t a shower curtain for the tub. Everything felt beige and impersonal, with sparse decor. It reminded me of the sleep clinic where I once spent a night, the sort of no-frills, low-budget place I’d described to people. We paid less the night before for a much nicer Comfort Inn in MA. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel at its price.
I don’t want to come back. The place was disgusting and so expensive for nothing. I’d wanted something better, but everything was booked, so “choice” didn’t feel like much of a choice. There are so many bad reviews and, from what I can see, nothing changes. The replies keep saying they’re sorry for the experience. Stop apologizing and care about your customers. My room had a damaged bathroom door, no tissues, almost no toilet paper, a dirty shower curtain, and a stained blanket. They didn’t give me fresh towels either. The bed was made, but the blanket still had a stain. Worse, someone left my room wide open with the TV blaring and the toilet running. Thank Gd nothing was stolen, but I felt completely violated. I was at Binghamton for orientation and came back as quickly as I could so I could report that anyone could have walked in and taken my things. The front desk girl was very nice and said she wasn’t in control, but would tell housekeeping not to leave rooms open. I was lucky I got back in time to report it, and I was close to calling the police. I was supposed to be billed 102 per night plus tax according to Choice, but the paper I was handed showed 102 for the first night and 117 for the second. Meanwhile, they made me initial all the possible consequences if I damaged the room. No tissues, no toilet paper, a damaged door, and an open room were apparently acceptable on their end.
