Motel 6 Joliet, IL - I-80

The room was filthy: roaches, dirty towels and sheets, dirty walls, black hairs between the beds, a rusty tub, and a hole in the restroom floor. It smelled strongly of nicotine, and the walls had blood on them with paint peeling. I took pictures. The signs said no smoking, but the rooms still had an awful smoke residue smell. This place was nasty, and pigs live better on a farm. We were exhausted when we checked in and couldn’t find another place so late in the evening. We had booked three nights, but they made us leave the same day, saying our reservation had expired because we checked in late. I had called specifically to ask if arriving late would be a problem, and they assured me it wouldn’t. At check-in, the guy gave me a receipt and told me to enjoy my three-night stay. The whole thing was disorganized and unprofessional. The guy I spoke with in the morning was an ignorant, careless jerk. He blamed the night guy, saying he was new and didn’t know any better. Then housekeeping came banging on the door and demanding we leave immediately. Don’t stay here. They should be embarrassed to be open in these run-down, dirty conditions. We moved to another hotel that was five stars for the exact same price. My only regret is not researching this place before booking. It was the closest one to where we needed to be.
