Hampton Inn Joplin

We picked the closest Hilton when an issue with the car forced my family and me to stop unexpectedly during our trip. The hotel turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The rooms were very clean and nicely decorated, the beds were comfortable, and the linens felt soft. Breakfast had a great selection, too.

Our room was beautiful, and the staff couldn't have done more to look after us. I hope the place finds new owners who appreciate the people working there. The public areas could use a little TLC.

We arrived on a Friday around 10 p.m. and were very pleased with the stay. Maria was at the front desk, and she'd already checked in two other customers before us. She was professional and really nice. The lobby was clean and welcoming, and the room was one of the best I've stayed in. Breakfast the next morning was delicious, with freshly cooked eggs and sausage. I also overheard the front desk person professionally updating a customer about her stay. I highly recommend this Hilton if you need a place in Joplin. It may cost a little more than some hotels, but it's worth it.

We've stayed at Hamptons in several other areas, but this was the worst by far. After my granddaughter's competition, we picked this Hampton Inn at random. The morning desk clerk and kitchen staff were rude, the front clerk was rude when we arrived, and the fruit at breakfast smelled bad while the eggs were watery. The bed felt like it was only a box spring. Our room was 85 degrees when we came in, and even with the fan running it took two hours to cool down. The carpet was dirty. We checked in late, and the clerk wouldn't apply any discounts because of that. The owner said it was full price after midnight no matter the reason. If you're in the area, drive on by.
