Ramada by Wyndham Juneau

The fire alarm went off five or six times during the night. I was already awake in a room that stayed cold until morning, and I got sick the next day. I'm still sick as I write this. My flight was delayed, so I arrived close to midnight. Occupancy seemed very low this time of year, and it looked like the hotel had turned the heat off, or maybe it had broken. They put a small space heater in my room but hadn't switched it on. The room was about 40F when I got there. For $200, it felt like a camping trip, and it was no good for a business visit.

The staff made my visit memorable, and I was even able to check in early, which I really appreciated. Kyra, Graycen, and Angie at the front desk were welcoming and helpful. Micheal kept things running smoothly during the quiet hours, and Linda, the front desk manager, was professional and kind. Jessica, the general manager, clearly leads by example, with a top-notch front-of-house team. Kris and Kelly’s Concierge were in the lobby, and their local knowledge was a real help. The rooms were clean and well maintained, thanks to Luisa and her housekeeping team, who consistently went above and beyond. I also enjoyed the hotel restaurant, where Brian and Kylie provided great service and the food was delicious. Thanks to everyone who made my stay so special. If you're visiting Juneau, this is the place to stay. I can't wait to come back.

The location is convenient for both the city and the airport, and there was plenty of space in my room. It had two large closets, a bathroom, counters, a desk, and two beds. The rooms could be remodeled to make better use of all that space, though the hotel feels dated. There were about five sprinklers in my room, some dusty, some green, and one hanging from the ceiling. The showerhead was cracked and sprayed water everywhere. It got quite warm during my stay, and the fan they provided didn't help much. I wish there were AC, and the windows only open a little.

The bed was awful, but the rooms were clean and very large, if a little dated. The staff were kind and helpful. Shops by the port and lots of places to eat are within walking distance.
